When most people hear the name Judy Blume, young adult classics like Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret and Blubber often come to mind. But, thanks to her new book due out in June 2015, the author is ready to stake her claim in the adult novel genre once again.

Titled In the Unlikely Event, this is Blume's first book for adults in over 15 years. And to say she's enthusiastic about its release is an understatement. The author excitedly teased the cover art to her Twitter followers this past week.

The novel takes place in the author's hometown of Elizabeth, New Jersey, and uses a series of real-life plane crashes that occurred there in late 1951 and early 1952 as the backdrop.

"These events have lingered in my mind ever since. It was a crazy time. We were witnessing things that were incomprehensible to us as teenagers," she told People. "Was it sabotage? An alien invasion? No one knew, and people were understandably terrified."

Using the incidents as background, the book follows the lives of several families and close friends across three generations, in what Blume's longtime editor, Carole Baron, describes as a story the author couldn't hold in any longer.

"It is a remarkable narrative — gripping and moving," said Baron. "And not surprisingly, a book that will keep readers on the edge of their seats."
